A little about the dragonfly metamorphosis pictures....I was lucky enough to be witness to a dragonfly metamorphisis one spring. Amazing event! First hundreds of very ugly, prehistoric looking bugs called nymphs come out of the water and climb whatever they can find. Once they find a good spot the magic happens! The nymph latches on to the tree and within minutes a dragonfly emerges doing a black flip out of the shell. (see the one in the background) The newly emerged dragonfly sits until its wings are dry enough to fly and off he goes, leaving the perfect nymph shell behind. Truely something to see!
