A small collection of this inexpensive MN pottery and Capture Minnesota inspired me to photograph it. Nemadji pottery was produced in Moose Lake, MN from 1923-2002. The beautifully colored clay from the Nemadji River was used and hence it's name. Though called "Indian Pottery" it was never produced by Native Americans. It started off with more elaborate pieces sold to the wealthy then produced the type of pottery in the photo for the tourist trade.
